We’re thrilled to introduce Monspeak, the first independent product from the NoMoreBoring team —— a fun and innovative AI-powered English speaking app designed to make language learning engaging, effective, and, most importantly, not boring!

The Story Behind Monspeak

Monspeak was born out of a personal need. Our designer, Suki, wanted to improve her English speaking skills but found most language-learning apps too rigid, exam-oriented, or just plain dull. While apps like Duolingo are fun, they often fall short when it comes to real, practical learning. One day, Suki had a lightbulb moment: What if learning English could be as entertaining as chatting with your favorite characters? She shared the idea with Leo, our talented developer, and the two immediately clicked. What started as a side project—something they worked on during weekends and evenings—quickly turned into a passion project. Every new feature brought joy, and every design session filled Suki with a sense of accomplishment. The result? Monspeak, a unique app that combines language learning with playful interaction.

What Makes Monspeak Special?

1. Character Cards Meet Real Conversations

Monspeak offers a fresh twist on language learning by combining role-playing with real-world conversations. The app features 8 unique characters, each with their own personality and style. Whether you’re chatting with Chandler or Monica from Friends, Max from 2 Broke Girls, Harry or Hermione from Harry Potter, or even iconic figures like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk, you’ll feel like you’re talking to an old friend (or a fascinating new one!). These characters make learning feel less like a chore and more like an adventure.

2. A Gamified Experience

Monspeak’s interaction design is as fun as it is functional. Imagine using a virtual gachapon machine: you press a button, wind it up, and watch as it spins to randomly select a character card. Once your character is chosen, you can start a conversation right away. The app integrates cutting-edge speech synthesis and speech recognition technologies, ensuring accurate pronunciation feedback and lifelike AI responses. It’s like having a conversation with a real person—but with zero judgment and endless patience.

3. Knowledge Cards for Effective Learning

Every conversation in Monspeak comes with predefined tasks. Once you complete them, you’ll unlock knowledge cards that summarize key takeaways from your chat. These cards are automatically generated by the AI, highlighting vocabulary, phrases, and grammar points you need to review. It’s a seamless way to track your progress and reinforce what you’ve learned.
